FAQS

What type of physical shape I need to be to hunt in Spain?

No special physical condition is required, just try to be in the best shape you can before coming. That way you will enjoy your trip to the fullest.

Our guides have a vast experience in mountain hunting and will try to adapt the hunt as much as possible to each individual’s physical condition.

Do take into account that hunting chamois does tend to require a bit more condition than Ibex usually does. Hunting in the mountains can be challenging, but remember, you came here to have fun.

What type of boots do I require?

When hunting Ibex and Chamois the ground can be steep, undulating, rocky and wet depending on which area are you hunting. Boots need to be waterproof, and have good ankle support for all species.

Do I need gaiters?

Only when hunting Ibex and/or Chamois.

Do I bring a pack?

We recommend you bring a day backpack to carry binoculars, cameras, drink bottles, rain gear while you are out hunting. Our guides will be carrying food, spotting scope, fleshing knives and other equipment.

How much ammunition shall I bring?

One box for a combination hunt as well as sighting in your rifle should be enough. However, in case of doubt bring an extra box, better be safe than sorry.

At what range should I be sighted in?

We consider that the average shots are from 150 to 250 yards. When hunting Ibex and Chamois in the mountains you can expect to shoot up to 300 yards.

What caliber do you recommend?

We recommend you bring a rifle you feel comfortable shooting with. The most commonly used calibers are: 7mm, 300 WM, 300 Weatherby.

Do I require rain gear?

YES! Lightweight rain gear is a must.

Should I bring a spotting scope and binoculars?

Your guide will have a spotting scope, but certainly bring your own binoculars.

What is the procedure once I arrive in Spain?

Once you land on Madrid Airport, a person of our staff (most probably you hunting guide) will meet you at the Guardia Civil Post (Police) to clear the guns with you. If you arrive in terminal 1, this will be inside the baggage claim area. If you arrive in terminal 4, it is just outside of the exit door, after baggage claim.

After clearing the guns you will drive to the hotel at the hunting area. This drive could take from 2 to 5 hrs, depending on which specie. The roads in Spain are extremely well taken care of, and normally most of the drive will take place on highways.

Accommodations at all of our hunting areas are based on the best available hotels in the area.

How will my trophies be taken care of?

All trophies will be salt dried, and skulls, horns or antlers, will be cleaned, and ready to be sent in the following spring, after the hunting season. A professional taxidermist that has been working for us in the last 10 years does this process.

Once this is completed, it’s sent with all the necessary documents to Fauna and Flora in New York, by a reputable expediting firm in Madrid.

What elevation we will be at?

Madrid is at 1900 ft, the average hunting elevation will be 3000 ft.

What will be the travelling time between hunting areas?

Average traveling time is 4 hours.

What is the voltage in Spain?

In Spain we use 220 volts. We use the TWO ROUND PRONG PLUG. Bring an adaptor-transformer.

Can I wear camouflage gear?

You can bring and wear camouflage while hunting without any problems.

Can I do laundry while in Spain?

In most hunting areas in Spain, laundry is available.

Whats the average hiking time on a ibex/chamois hunt?

You will be hiking an average of 2 to 3 hours on those areas.

What is customary for tipping?

Tipping in bars and hotels is recommended between 5%-8%.

What kind of vehicles will I be riding?

All of our guides drive AWD from top bands.

Are there any contagious diseases in Spain?

There are no contagious diseases in Spain. No vaccines or special medicines are required.
